i was chatting w/ tiffanyblue tonite on the phone and she mentioned how she had a post idea, but saw that i had read her mind (bc we are so in sync w our pop culture obsessions) and posted it on silver lining instead.

but this photoshoot is so fantastic, it deserves a one of a kind "30/13" post!

so here it is.....

vanity fair's "west side story - revisited," featuring hollywood's ones-to-watch.

THE DANCE

Between Maria (Camilla Belle, far left) and Tony (Ben Barnes, far right, also known as Prince Caspian), it is dancing, dancing, dancing. Latin steps predominate on the left, as the Sharks and their ladies give America a taste of the culture to come. On the right, we have a series of funky Anglo moves, as the Jets and their gals go rhythmically at it. On either side, our two tragic protagonists have eyes only for each other. The lead Sharks dancers are Anita (J.Lo, in an incredible pose) and Bernardo (Rodrigo Santoro). The Jet girl dancing with Riff (Chris Evans) is played by Ashley Tisdale (of High School Musical fame). Rounding out the Sharks, left to right: Minka Kelly (she’s Lyla on Friday Night Lights), Jay Hernandez, Natalie Martinez (Death Race), Brandon T. Jackson, Melonie Diaz (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints). On the Jets’ side: Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Shane Lynch (she’s gonna be big), Robert Pattinson, Cam Gigandet, Trilby Glover (88 Minutes), Brittany Snow (Hairspray), Drake Bell.

"This photoshoot was done in May 2008 for a special Vanity Fair edition supposed to be titled "Movies Rock", the edition didn't happen so the pictures were shelved. Now that the West Side Story revival is coming to Broadway, VF decided to use the pictures.

Camilla Belle and Ben Barnes are the headliners because last year (when the shoot was supposed to come out) had big movies, Camilla had 10,000 BC and Ben had Narnia.
Robert Pattinson was not famous at the time so he's in the background. Had the photoshoot been more recent. RP would have been front and center."

wow! rpattz as tony? while i think our dreamy vampire is more brooding james dean than the jets' good boy tony, seeing these two former lovebirds would make joe jonas's blood BOIL!
